Retail work, around trading hours

What we do for shops

Store lighting design and installation, power and data for tills and displays, external signage supplies, fire alarm and emergency lighting, periodic EICR testing, and fault finding when something trips at the worst moment. All of it certified by an NICEIC Approved Contractor and priced in writing.

Recent retail work

At Holland & Barrett in Salisbury we installed eleven 1200×600 cool-white LED panels across the store — brighter, cleaner and more efficient for staff and customers (April 2025). At bl_nk coffee in Kinson we delivered the CCTV, lighting and power fit-out.

02The detail

Shopfloors run on light and power — and lose money the moment either fails. TJC Fire & Electrical install, upgrade and maintain the electrical systems behind retail premises across the South, working around trading hours so the doors stay open.

Working around trading hours

A shop that closes for the electricians is a shop losing money, so we plan retail work the other way round. Relights run aisle by aisle or after closing, new circuits are pulled and left safe before the doors open, and anything genuinely disruptive is booked out of hours. The job is phased around your trading pattern — and because the price is fixed in writing first, a longer programme does not become a bigger bill.

Signage, CCTV and the shopfront

The shopfront sells before anyone steps inside, and most of it is electrical: illuminated fascia signs and their supplies, window display lighting and power, external lighting, and CCTV covering the floor and the till. We wire, install and certify all of it — the same way we delivered the illuminated X-ray signage and reception lighting upgrade for a dental practice, and the full CCTV, lighting and power fit-out at bl_nk coffee.

The compliance a shop carries

Retail premises carry the full set of commercial obligations: a periodic EICR (usually every five years for commercial premises, under standard guidance), emergency lighting that is tested and logged, and a fire alarm system that suits the building. We handle the lot as one contractor, so the certificates stay current and renewals hold no surprises.

Lighting pays for itself

A store relight is usually the fastest win in retail: LED panels cut energy use and lift the shopfloor at the same time. If your lighting is tired, we’ll survey it and give you a fixed written price for the upgrade.
