Frequently asked questions

What areas do you cover?
We work across Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire — including Bournemouth, Poole, Ferndown, Wimborne, Ringwood, Verwood, Christchurch, Dorchester, Southampton, Portsmouth, Salisbury, Weymouth and Gillingham. If you are not sure whether we reach you, call 01202 985 655 and ask.
Are you NICEIC approved and insured?
Yes. TJC Fire & Electrical is an NICEIC Approved Contractor, holds SSIP and SafeContractor accreditation, and is fully insured. Work is carried out to BS 7671 and certified on completion.
How long have you been trading?
Around fifteen years. TJC started as a sole trader and was incorporated as TJC Fire & Electrical Limited in June 2019.
How much does an EICR cost?
Typically £100 to £400. The price depends on the number of circuits and the location of the property, so we confirm a fixed price before any work starts.
How much does a full rewire cost?
Typically £3,000 to £7,000 or more, depending on the size of the property and how much is being replaced. A consumer unit replacement on its own is usually £1,200 to £2,000. We quote a fixed price after seeing the job.
Do you work on commercial premises as well as homes?
Yes. Alongside domestic work we carry out commercial fit-outs, fire alarm and detection systems, emergency lighting, commercial EICRs and new build installations.
Do you provide a certificate?
Yes. Every job is tested and certified, and notified under Building Regulations where required, so you have the documentation for insurers, buyers, tenants or letting agents.
